Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Check your device clock and network connection
  2. Ensure the provider app/OS account is set up:
    iOS
    Android
    iOS: Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security (for Apple ID)
    Android: Settings → Google → Manage your Google Account
  3. Reinstall BabyShield and try again
  4. If it still fails, email us with your device/OS and any on-screen error text
  1. Grant camera permission:
    iOS
    Android
    iOS: Settings → BabyShield → enable Camera
    Android: Settings → Apps → BabyShield → Permissions → allow Camera
  2. Try focusing on the barcode and ensure good lighting
  3. If no result: we'll show "No direct match — similar recalls" when possible. You can also try a keyword search (brand/model)
  1. Check spelling; try a broader term (e.g., "pacifier", "doll")
  2. Remove filters (severity/category) and search again
  3. Tap through to the agency source when results appear to verify details

BabyShield displays data from official sources (FDA, CPSC, EU Safety Gate). If you spot an error:

  1. Open the recall detail and tap the Source link to verify
  2. Email us the recall ID and a brief note; we'll investigate any ingestion or mapping issues
  1. In-app: Settings → Privacy → Export my data or Delete my account
  2. Or see Data Deletion & Account Closure for alternatives if you can't access the app
  1. Make sure you're on the latest version from the App Store / Google Play
  2. Reboot the device and try again
  3. Enable optional crash reports: Settings → Privacy → Share crash reports (this helps us fix issues; no user ID is attached)
  4. Email us with device model, OS version, and what you were doing when it crashed
